Overview & Highlights

Welcome to La Union, a standout Salvadoran restaurant nestled on Wilcrest Drive in Houston, Texas. This culinary gem offers a delightful journey through the rich flavors of El Salvador, making it a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Latin cuisine.

Upon stepping into La Union, you're greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere. The establishment is known not only for its delicious dishes but also for its emphasis on cleanliness and comfort. Many patrons, like Sonia Herrera, rave about the surprisingly low prices without compromising on quality. “I was in shock with the cheap prices for the food,” she remarked, highlighting how affordable indulgence can be.

La Union excels in presenting authentic Salvadoran antojitos. The Yuca Con Chicharrón and Platanos Fritos are popular choices among frequent visitors, each priced at just $5.50. For those looking to sample a variety of flavors, the tamales are a must-try, starting at only $1.50 for Tamales De Pollo and $1.75 for Tamales De Elote Con Crema. These dishes not only satisfy your hunger but also offer a taste of home, as noted by Jax Schaitel who loves the tamales. “Now the dish to die for is their Mariscada (seafood soup).” Her experience captures the essence of La Union's menu, where every bite tells a story.

The main dishes, or platillos, are just as commendable. For $7.95, enjoy the Bistec Encebollado served with sautéed milanesa steak on a bed of savory grilled onions or the flavorful Carne Asada. Each dish highlights the care and quality that La Union invests in its culinary offerings. Customers also appreciate the breakfast options, with Tony Herrera describing a delightful experience sampling chicken tamales, pupusas, and more, all delivered with stellar service. “We don't see this in California,” he exclaimed, underscoring the unique offerings and the friendly environment that the staff creates.

As you explore La Union, you're bound to find both familiar favorites and new delights. The combination of delicious food, reasonable prices, and personal touches from the staff ensures that diners will leave satisfied. Their tamales are delicious, i took my american husband there to try some authentic food. I am not Salvadorian, but i am very familiar with their food. Now the dish to die for is their Mariscada (seafood soup) so creamy, so hearty, so flavorful... It is a truly indulgent dish. And the waitress was sooo sweet!

Wow, delicious pupusas and really good breakfast plates for a very low price... We don't see this in California, we had breakfast and sampled a little bit of everything, chicken tamal, pupusas, fried plantains, eggs, beans, cheese and cream.. it was all soo good, well recommended, definitely a must when you are visiting this area near Houston.
